To celebrate the blessed occasion of Mawlid al-Nabi, the Dawoodi Bohra community of Chattogram organised a Quran and Naat recitation event at their community centre on September 20, 2025.
The event brought together distinguished guests including the Honourable Mayor of Chattogram, Dr Shahadat Hossein, senior government officials, honorary consuls of several countries, doctors, industrialists, and respected business leaders.
The evening began with the recitation of the Holy Quran and Na’at, followed by an introductory video about the global Dawoodi Bohra community and a presentation highlighting the local community’s legacy of integration and contribution to Bangladesh over the years.
The highlight of the evening was the Mayor Dr Shahadat Hossain’s address reflecting on the life and teachings of Prophet Mohammed ﷺ. The Mayor also praised the Dawoodi Bohra community for their dedication and positive impact on the city.
“It was a great way to interact with our fellow citizens. We had the opportunity to share some wonderful memories from the past visit of our Syedna that took place way back in 1992. As we look forward to welcoming our current leader, His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, the entire community is excited and looking forward to working together to make it a successful one,” remarked Yusuf Bagasrawala, an organiser.
The event concluded with a traditional Dawoodi Bohra dinner, offering guests a taste of the community’s rich culinary heritage. The evening served not only as a spiritual gathering but also as a cultural exchange; celebrating unity, understanding, and the shared vision of progress and harmony. Guests left with a deeper appreciation of the community’s values, traditions, and ongoing efforts to contribute positively to the nation.
